Pastor Chad Everett
Key Scripture: 2 Peter 1:2–4
Sermon Overview
What if the power of God you’ve been praying for is already inside you?
In this message, Pastor Chad Everett teaches that when Christ comes into your life, He doesn’t come empty-handed—He comes as the Seed. Just like an acorn carries the entire DNA of an oak tree, the seed of Jesus carries everything you need for life and godliness. This is not about working harder or trying to become something you’re not—it’s about revealing who is already in you.
You don’t need to beg God for something more. You need to believe that everything you need is already in the Seed.
How to Use This Study Guide
This 5-day study guide is designed to help individuals, families, and Roads Groups dive deeper into the message and allow God’s Word to shape their identity, values, and way of life. Each day includes a daily focus and Big Idea drawn from the sermon, full Scripture text for meditation, a quote from Pastor Chad Everett, and discussion questions tailored for New Christians, Mature Christians, Jr. & Sr. High Students, Families with Young Children, and Families with Teenagers. Every day also concludes with a shared Application Step to live out the message, with optional ideas to help each group engage the truth in meaningful and practical ways.
Why study this message?
Because so many believers live as though they are still waiting on God to give them something He already put inside them. This study will help you shift from striving to revelation—from spiritual passivity to confident, bold identity in Christ. As you grow in the knowledge of Jesus, you will begin to see that everything you need is already in the Seed.
Keep your Bible open each day.
This guide isn’t a shortcut around God’s Word—it’s a companion to help you engage it more fully. One of the most life-changing disciplines you can develop is reading the Bible daily. As you read the scriptures provided, ask Holy Spirit to help you understand what’s being revealed. Let the Word of God train you, challenge you, and transform you from the inside out.
Set aside time each day to read, reflect, and talk through the questions. Invite Holy Spirit to bring the message to life in your heart and home. And most of all—expect to grow.
Day 1 – What’s in the Seed?
Big Idea:
Everything God wants to do in your life, He’s already placed inside the seed.
Key Scripture:
Genesis 1:11–12 (NKJV)
“Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so… And God saw that it was good.”
Quote from Pastor Chad:
“Everything we need is already in the seed.”
Discussion Questions
New Christians:
- What does it mean that the seed is “in itself”? How does that help you understand your new life in Christ?
- Why is it encouraging to know that God already placed what you need inside of you?
Mature Christians:
- In what areas have you unintentionally been waiting for something external when God already placed it within you?
- How does this teaching challenge the way you pray or live by faith?
Jr. & Sr. High Students:
- Have you ever felt like you weren’t enough? What does it change to know that God planted something powerful in you?
- What might begin to grow in your life if you believe the seed of Jesus is already in you?
Families with Young Children:
- As a family, how can we talk about what it means to have “the seed” of Jesus inside us?
- What are some ways we can water that seed together this week?
Families with Teenagers:
- Talk about the idea of “the seed is in itself.” What do you think God has already placed inside you?
- How can we encourage each other as a family to believe in and grow what God’s put inside us?
Application Step:
Take 5–10 minutes today to read Genesis 1:11–12 aloud. As you read, picture an acorn and imagine the oak tree hidden inside. Ask Holy Spirit to reveal areas in your life where you’ve been waiting instead of watering. Declare aloud:
“Everything I need is already in the seed. Lord, help me see what You’ve planted in me.”
For Families with Young Children:
Draw pictures of seeds and what they grow into. Let kids say, “Jesus lives in me!” and celebrate that something special is growing inside.
For Families with Teenagers:
Have a conversation about what God has already placed in each of you. Pray together, thanking God for what’s in the seed.
For Teenagers (individually):
Journal your thoughts: “What do I believe is already in me because of Jesus?” Write a short declaration and post it where you’ll see it daily.
Day 2 – Fruit Follows the Seed
Big Idea:
You can’t plant one thing and expect something different to grow—your fruit always reveals your seed.
Key Scripture:
Genesis 1:11–12, Matthew 7:16–17
Quote from Pastor Chad:
“We can say we planted something else—but the fruit always tells the truth.”
Discussion Questions
New Christians:
- What kind of fruit do you see in your life right now?
- How can you be more intentional about what you allow to grow in your heart?
Mature Christians:
- In what ways do we sometimes speak the right seed but produce the wrong fruit?
- How can we align our intentions and confessions with real spiritual fruit?
Jr. & Sr. High Students:
- What kind of fruit do you want others to see in your life—and what seeds will help that grow?
Families with Young Children:
- What are some “good seeds” we can plant as a family this week (like kindness, patience, prayer)?
- Can you think of a time we planted something small and saw it grow into something big?
Families with Teenagers:
- What “fruit” is our home producing right now?
- What seeds could we start planting that would change the atmosphere of our home?
Application Step:
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you examine your life today: What kind of fruit is growing in your actions, words, or thoughts? Read Galatians 5:22–23 and invite God to grow His fruit in you.
For Families with Young Children:
Pick one fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, etc.) and practice it together today.
For Families with Teenagers:
Each person can share one area they want to grow in. Pray together for God to help plant the right seeds.
For Teenagers (individually):
Pick a fruit of the Spirit and set a goal today to live it out. Journal how it goes.
Day 3 – Made in His Likeness
Big Idea:
God didn’t just save you to improve your behavior—He saved you to reflect His nature.
Key Scripture:
Genesis 1:26–27, Romans 8:29
Quote from Pastor Chad:
“God never puts an expectation on you that He hasn’t already equipped you for.”
Discussion Questions
New Christians:
- What does it mean to be made in the image of God?
- How does that change the way you view yourself?
Mature Christians:
- How do you pursue being “conformed to the image of His Son” in daily life?
- Where do you still need God to renew your view of your identity?
Jr. & Sr. High Students:
- Do you ever feel pressure to be like someone else? What changes when you realize you were made to be like God?
Families with Young Children:
- What’s one way we can show God’s love or joy in our home this week?
Families with Teenagers:
- What qualities of Jesus do we want to reflect as a family?
Application Step:
Thank God for creating you in His image. Write down or speak aloud three characteristics of Jesus you want to see grow in your life.
For Families with Young Children:
Talk about one way God made each person in your family special. Encourage one another.
For Families with Teenagers:
Read Romans 8:29 and discuss how your identity changes your goals. Encourage each other.
For Teenagers (individually):
Create a “truth list” of 5 statements about who you are in Christ and post them where you’ll see them daily.
Day 4 – Reveal, Don’t Strive
Big Idea:
The Christian life is not about trying harder—it’s about letting the life of Jesus already inside you be revealed.
Key Scripture:
Colossians 1:27, Galatians 2:20
Quote from Pastor Chad:
“Growing in Jesus is not about addition—it’s about revelation.”
Discussion Questions
New Christians:
- Are there areas where you’ve been striving instead of trusting Christ in you?
- How does it feel to know Jesus is already inside you?
Mature Christians:
- What are some signs of striving vs. trusting?
- How do you position yourself for deeper revelation?
Jr. & Sr. High Students:
- What changes when you realize Jesus is already living inside you?
Families with Young Children:
- What does it mean to “let Jesus shine through us”? How can we do that today?
Families with Teenagers:
- How can we remind each other not to strive to be loved by God, but to trust that we already are?
Application Step:
Pause and ask: “Where have I been striving instead of trusting?” Say:
“Christ is in me. I’m not lacking. Reveal what’s already there, Lord.”
For Families with Young Children:
Act out a Bible story where Jesus helps someone, then talk about how He helps us from the inside.
For Families with Teenagers:
Share one area where you’ve been striving. Pray together for peace and trust.
For Teenagers (individually):
Write a short prayer asking God to help you stop striving and start trusting.
Day 5 – Partakers of the Divine Nature
Big Idea:
You don’t just observe God’s promises—you participate in them through the knowledge of Christ.
Key Scripture:
2 Peter 1:2–4
Quote from Pastor Chad:
“Don’t be hating ’cause I’m partaking.”
Discussion Questions
New Christians:
- What does it mean to “partake” of God’s nature?
- How can you begin to live out His promises?
Mature Christians:
- Have you been observing God’s promises more than partaking?
- What does partaking look like for you this week?
Jr. & Sr. High Students:
- What’s one promise of God you want to experience, not just know about?
Families with Young Children:
- What’s a promise from God we can claim as a family today?
Families with Teenagers:
- Which promises of God are we living from? Which ones do we need to start claiming?
Application Step:
Read 2 Peter 1:2–4 aloud and pray:
