Welcome, Families!
This week, we’re continuing to DIG into God’s Word together as we celebrate Christmas.
When we open the Bible as a family, we’re not just reading stories—we’re learning who Jesus is and why He came.
Every DIG in this guide will help your family:
• Read God’s Word
• Reflect on what it means
• Respond with simple, fun activities
So grab your Bibles, gather your family, and let’s dig into the true meaning of Christmas.
⛏️ DIG 1 — GOD MADE A PLAN TO SAVE US
READ – Genesis 3: 15 together.
Ask your children:
• What happened when people disobeyed God?
• Did God stop loving people?
• What did God promise to do?
Say this simple truth together: “God made a plan to save us.”
REFLECT
Help your kids understand:
Even when people made wrong choices, God already had a plan. God did not give up on people—He promised to send help.
Ask:
• How does it feel to know God never gives up on us?
• What does this tell us about God?
Remind them: “God always keeps His promises.”
RESPOND — FAMILY ACTIVITY
“GOD’S PROMISE”
Give each child a piece of paper.
Have them draw a heart. Inside the heart, help them draw or write one of these: a cross, a baby in a manger or the name “Jesus”
Say together: “Thank You, God, for loving us and making a plan to save us.”
⛏️ DIG 2 — JESUS IS GOD WITH US
READ – Isaiah 7: 14 and John 1: 14 together.
Ask your children:
• Who is Jesus?
• What does ‘God with us’ mean?
• Why do you think God wanted to be close to us?
Say together: “Jesus is God with us.”
REFLECT
Help your kids understand:
Jesus is not just a baby. Jesus is God who came close to us so we could know Him.
Ask:
• How does it feel when someone stays close to you?
• How does it feel knowing Jesus is always with you?
Remind them: “Jesus is always with us.”
RESPOND — FAMILY ACTIVITY
“COME CLOSE”
Sit close together as a family for a moment. Have each person say one word that makes them think of God being close like your family is close (for example: love, safe, peace, help).
Say together: “Thank You, Jesus, for coming close to us.”
⛏️ DIG 3 — WE CAN TRUST GOD EVEN WHEN IT’S HARD
READ – Luke 1: 34–38 together.
Ask your children:
• Did Mary understand everything God told her?
• Did Mary trust God anyway?
• Can we trust God when things feel hard?
Say together: “We trust God, even when it’s hard.”
REFLECT
Help your kids understand:
Sometimes God asks us to trust Him even when we don’t understand. God is good, and He keeps His word.
Ask:
• What is something hard you trust God with?
• Who helps us trust God?
Remind them: “God helps us trust Him.”
RESPOND — FAMILY ACTIVITY
“SAYING YES”
Take turns as a family and let each person finish this sentence:
“I can say yes to God when ______.”
Pray together: “God, help us trust You.”
⛏️ DIG 4 — SALVATION HAS A NAME
READ – Matthew 1: 21 together.
Ask your children:
• What is Jesus’ name?
• What did Jesus come to do?
• Who saves us?
Say together: “Jesus is our Savior.”
REFLECT
Help your kids understand:
Jesus came to save us and be with us forever. Salvation is not something we do—it is someone we receive.
Ask:
• Why do we need Jesus?
• How does Jesus help us every day?
Remind them: “Jesus is our Savior.”
RESPOND — FAMILY ACTIVITY
“SAY HIS NAME”
Have everyone place one hand on their heart.
Say together: “Jesus, thank You for saving me.”
Then raise one hand and say together: “Salvation has a name—Jesus.”
🌟 WEEKLY FAMILY PRACTICE
Choose one practice to do together each day this week:
- Speak Truth Each Morning
Say together: “Jesus is our Savior.” - Remember Christmas
Ask at bedtime: “Why did Jesus come?” - Practice Trust – Celebrate when someone trusts God or makes a kind choice.
- Pray Together – “Jesus, thank You for coming near to us and for saving us.”
Final Encouragement for Families
Christmas reminds us that God did not stay far away. He came near. As your family learns to trust God and receive Jesus together, you are building faith that will last long after Christmas.
