Message from Paul Johnson

OVERVIEW

This week, we are learning how to live in a way that pleases God and loves people well.

The Bible teaches us a powerful order:

👉 When we respect and listen to God (fear of the Lord)
👉 We become teachable
👉 That leads to wisdom
👉 Wisdom helps us walk in humility
👉 And humility leads to honor

We are not trying to be important—we are learning how to live the right way with God and others.

HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE

Hear → Answer → Act

👂 Hear – Read the Bible
💬 Answer – Talk about it
🏃 Act – Live it out this week

Have your Bible open. Let God’s Word give the answers.

🌟 PRACTICE FOR THE WEEK

A Path to Follow: Learning to Live God’s Way

This week is not just about changing behavior.
It is about letting God change your heart.

Take your time with each step.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you.

STEP 1 — TAKE INVENTORY WITH GOD

(FEAR OF THE LORD)

READ

Proverbs 15:33 and Proverbs 8:13

Ask:

“God, what are You doing in me right now?”
“Where do I need to take You more seriously?”
“What do You want to change in my life?”

Let God show you:
• where you may not be listening
• where you are choosing your way instead of His
• where your heart needs to change

Then ask:

“What would this look like if I followed You the right way?”

STEP 2 — LISTEN TO GOD’S WORD

(BE TEACHABLE)

READ (OUT LOUD)

Proverbs 15:33, James 4:6 and Psalm 119:9–11

Ask:

“God, where am I not listening to what You’ve already said?”
“Where have I said, ‘I already know that’ instead of obeying You?”

Choose one truth from the Bible this week.

Let it:
• change how you think
• guide your choices
• shape what you do

STEP 3 — CHOOSE HUMILITY

(RESPOND TO WHAT GOD SHOWS YOU)

Ask:

“God, what would humility look like for me today?”

Then:

  • say sorry without making excuses
    • listen instead of arguing
    • receive correction without getting upset
    • choose not to prove you are right

STEP 4 — SHOW HONOR

(VALUE WHAT GOD VALUES)

READ

Romans 12:10 and 1 Peter 2:17

Ask:

“God, who have I not noticed or appreciated?”
“Who do You want me to honor this week?”

Then:

  • say something kind
    • thank them for something specific
    • show them they matter

STEP 5 — WALK IT OUT WITH GOD

(REFLECT AND THANK HIM)

Ask:

  • What did God show me this week?
    • Where did I listen to Him?
    • Where did I choose humility instead of pride?
    • Where did I show honor?
    • What is God still teaching me?

Thank Him for:
• helping you grow
• showing you truth
• being with you

FINAL REMINDER

This is not about being perfect.

It is about becoming someone who:

✔ Takes God seriously
✔ Keeps learning
✔ Walks in humility
✔ Honors others

Because…Honor comes from living God’s way!

✏️ ACTIVITY — WALK THE RIGHT PATH

Draw a path or road across your page.  This path shows how you walk with Jesus every day.

Along the path, write words that help you follow Jesus: Honor, Humility, Fear of the Lord, Teachable, Wisdom, Obey

Off to the sides of the path, write things you choose to say NO to: Pride, Disobedience, Lying, Bad attitudes, Ignoring God, Being unteachable, Foolish choices

✍️ Write: “Because of Jesus, I choose God’s way.”
