WELCOME, FAMILIES!

This week, your family will learn how Jesus didn’t just overcome temptation — He returned in the power of the Spirit.

Jesus went back to places He always went, but He did not go back the same.

God’s Spirit helped Him teach, heal, and help people.

God gives us the same Holy Spirit to help us follow Jesus every day.

As a family, you will:

  • Read God’s Word
  • Talk about what it means
  • Respond together in prayer

So grab your Bibles, gather together, and let’s grow together.

⛏️ DIG 1 — JESUS RETURNS IN GOD’S POWER

READ

Luke 4: 14–15

ASK YOUR CHILDREN

  • Where did Jesus return to after the wilderness?
  • Did Jesus return the same way, or in a new way?
  • Who gave Jesus His power?

Say this truth together:  “Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit.”

REFLECT

Help your kids understand:
Jesus went back to places He already knew, but God’s Spirit helped Him live and act differently.

Ask:

  • Where do we go every day as a family?
  • How can God help us act differently there?

RESPOND — FAMILY PRAYER

Pray together (parents can guide):
“Holy Spirit, thank You for helping Jesus.
Help our family follow You and return different every day.”

⛏️ DIG 2 — GOD’S POWER COMES FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT

READ

Luke 4: 14
John 5: 19

ASK YOUR CHILDREN

  • Did Jesus do everything by Himself?
  • Who helped Jesus do powerful things?
  • Does God help us too?

Say this truth together:  “The Holy Spirit helps us.”

REFLECT

Help your kids understand:
Jesus depended on the Holy Spirit. God helps us too when we listen and trust Him.

Ask:

  • When do you need God’s help the most?
  • How can we ask the Holy Spirit for help?

RESPOND — FAMILY PRAYER

Pray together:
“Holy Spirit, we need Your help.
Teach us to trust You and follow You every day.”

⛏️ DIG 3 — LISTENING TO GOD WITH HONOR

READ

Luke 4: 16–22

ASK YOUR CHILDREN

  • Did everyone listen to Jesus when He went back home?
  • Why is it important to listen when God speaks?
  • How can we show respect for God’s Word?

Say this truth together:  “We listen to God with our hearts.”

REFLECT

Help your kids understand:
Sometimes people stop listening because something feels familiar. God wants us to stay ready to hear Him.

Ask:

  • What makes it hard to listen sometimes?
  • How can our family listen better to God?

RESPOND — FAMILY PRAYER

Pray together:
“God, help our hearts stay open to You.
We want to hear and follow what You say.”

⛏️ DIG 4 — JESUS USES AUTHORITY TO HELP PEOPLE

READ

Luke 4: 33–39

ASK YOUR CHILDREN

  • What did Jesus do when people were sick or hurting?
  • Did Jesus ignore problems or help right away?
  • Can we ask God to help people when we pray?

Say this truth together:  “Jesus helps people with God’s power.”

REFLECT

Help your kids understand:
Jesus didn’t just talk about God’s power — He used it to help others.

Ask:

  • Who do you know that needs prayer?
  • How can we trust God when we pray?

RESPOND — FAMILY PRAYER

Pray together:
“Jesus, thank You for caring about people.
Help us trust You and pray for others.”

⛏️ DIG 5 — FOLLOWING JESUS MEANS DOING WHAT HE SAYS

READ

Luke 4: 31–32
James 1: 22

ASK YOUR CHILDREN

  • Did Jesus want people to just listen, or to obey?
  • What does it mean to follow Jesus every day?
  • How can our family follow Jesus together?

Say this truth together:  “We follow Jesus together.”

REFLECT

Help your kids understand:
Following Jesus means we don’t just hear His Word — we live it out every day.

Ask:

  • What is one way our family can follow Jesus this week?
  • How can we help each other obey God?

RESPOND — FAMILY PRAYER

Pray together (parents can guide):
“Jesus, we want to follow You.
Help our family listen, obey, and love others the way You do.”
