POINT #1 – CHILDREN OF GOD, THROUGH FAITH

 

(READ Galatians 3:26-29 NLT): “For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.”  

 

This scripture says that we are ALL God’s children.  Kids, parents, grandparents.  People all over the world, in different towns, states, countries and nations.  We have so many brothers and sisters in our family of God that live all over the world.  We have brothers and sisters in different countries that look and talk much differently than we do.  We are ALL His.  Those that are newborn, 5 years old, 30 years old, 60 years old and 100 years old.  We are ALL His children.  God sees us the same.  He loves us all the same, as His children.  He wants the very best for ALL of us.  

 

How is it that we can all be His children but we don’t come from the same family here on earth?  (Allow your child to answer).  Galatians 3:26 tells us that we are all God’s children through faith.  When we ask Jesus to be our friend, our Lord, our Savior and ask Him to come live in our heart, we then become a child of God.  This also means that we are brothers and sisters with other people all over the world who have prayed the same prayer.  We say this prayer through faith in Jesus.  We BELIEVE in Him and who He says He is.  We believe He is God’s son, that he died for our sins, rose from the dead, and is now in Heaven with God the Father.  

 

When we pray this prayer we then become united with Christ.  What does the word UNITED mean?  (Allow your child to answer: made one, joined together)  The scripture also says that it is like putting on new clothes.  We become united with Him, we put Him on like clothes.  When we put our clothes on in the morning, our clothes become part of us.  We are wrapped in them.  It’s the same with Jesus, He becomes a part of us, He lives inside of us and is with us always.  Because Jesus is God’s child, we too become His child when we are UNITED with Jesus.  We become children of God’s big, big family!

 

Discussion Questions

    1. Do you ever think about your parents and grandparents being God’s children, just like you are? 
    2. Do you know that makes you brothers and sisters?  What do you think about that?
    3. Do you feel that you are UNITED with Jesus?  Why or why not?  If not, how do you think you can become UNITED with Jesus?  (Be ready to lead your child in prayer to receive Jesus in their heart.)

 

 

 

Prayer

Jesus, we are so thankful that we get to be a part of your big, big family!  Father God, we love you so much and we are very thankful that You call us Your children.  That you love us all the same.  That you see us all the same, as Your child.  We are thankful for other believers throughout the entire world and that we get to be brothers and sisters with them in Your Kingdom.  Holy Spirit, help us to remember that we are UNITED with Jesus.  That we are clothed with Him.  Help us to see other believers as You see them, no matter their age, what they look like, talk like, or where they live.  Help us to feel Your heart for the family of God.  We pray all of these things, in Jesus’s name.  Amen.
