Four when God made a promise, I’m in six 13 for when God made a promise to Abraham because he could swear by no one greater. He swore by himself saying, surely blessing, I will bless you and multiply. I will multiply you. And so after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. I want to give you three phases of the journey of hope. Three phases. Hope you get these and I hope you write them down. They’re peas. Note takers are world changers. The first phase of the journey of hope is the promise. Second one is the process that the third one is possession Mt. Carmel Illinois Church,
Yay. So we’ve got we’re bookings. You know, you got to the rows between two thorns or something like that. I’m not sure how that went, but either way you got promise and we got possession and we got the process in the middle Mt. Carmel Illinois Church. I just let something run around the track right there. Don’t say that, Chad, you’re in church and you’re online. Hey everybody online. How you doing? Thank you Jesus. Three phases of the journey of hope. You’ll see them right here in these verses. Look what it says in verse 13 for when God made a promise, their bodies, they promise there’s the promise to Abraham because he could swear by no one greater.
He swore by himself saying, here’s the promise, surely blessing. I will bless you and multiplying, I will multiply you. That’s the promise of God. Amen. Verse 15 we get the process. So after everybody say after, after he patiently endured, there’s the process promise, patiently endured process he obtained. That’s the possession obtained the promise. So we see all three phases here and we see the promise. We, it says in verse 14 surely blessing, I will bless you in multiplying Mt. Carmel Illinois Church.
I will multiply you. That is the promise to Abraham. Now, this is a reference to Genesis 22 when Abraham was going to offer his son Isaac to God and the angel Lord stops him. And so that was, that was the quote or the reference to that promise that God made to Abraham. After that, he said, Hey, if you’re not willing to keep your son, hold back your son for me, I trust you. I’m going to bless you and multiply you, but I want to look at the original promise.
The original time God spoke to Abraham, so let’s go back. Let’s take it back to Genesis 12 take it back. Do, do, do, do. Take it back. Come on. That’s Rocky. Anybody with me? Come on. Genesis chapter 12 anyway, Genesis chapter 12 this is the original promise that God spoke to Abraham. Here we go Mt. Carmel Illinois Church
Genesis 12 start reading in verse one it says, now the Lord had said to Abraham, get out of your country, from your family, from your father’s house to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you. I will curse him who curses you and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed. So Abraham departed everything. They departed, departed as the Lord had spoken to him and lot went with him. And Abraham was 75 years old when he the part at every, say departed, departed from her N then Abraham took Sarah, his wife and LOD his brother’s son and all their possessions that they’d gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Harambe and they departed Mt. Everybody say the part had to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan. Let me just pray. Father, I thank you for your word. That is life to those who find it health to all their flesh. I thank you, Lord that you speak and power and might today. Holy spirit. I welcome you to break chains, break every lie of the enemy, and I thank you for freedom in the house today by the glory of God. In your name we pray. Amen. I hope you’re excited about what God’s going to do today.
I am expecting great things because the power of the Holy Spirit’s moving. He’s setting people free today and I’m excited about that, continuing in this process. So now look, we said, here’s the promise, the promise we find in verse two it says, I will three things in the promise I three things that God will do Mt. Carmel Illinois Church
Number one, I will make you a great nation. Number two, I will bless you, and number three, I will make your name great. He said, well, he says, then you shall be a blessing. You shall be a blessing is not the promise. That is a byproduct of the promise. In other words, when God’s blessings on our lives, that we are a blessing to others, so this is what God would do. He said, I’ll make you a great nation. I will bless you and I will make your name great.
That’s the promise of what God will do. The promise of what God wants to do in your and my life is important. It is important. It’s part of the process. It’s not the motive. It’s not like we do for God because he’s going to do for us. It’s not like we serve God because he’s promised us something, but it is important to keep the promises of God in front of us because it gives us encouragement and gives us hope Mt. Carmel Illinois Church.
